A little background about me (drum roll please)….In 2007 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had 5 surgeries in one year and a really long recuperation. For me, time stopped and then kinda slowed down. I had worked for the airlines (PSA, UsAir, now American) for over 20 years in a very fast past environment, so this was a shock.

I noticed things. I noticed things differently. It seemed that everybody was watering their lawns and plants, all the time. I noticed that lawns were always being mowed, fertilized and watered. It was comforting, as I had grown up with that. The sound of the mowers, the smell of fresh cut grass and wet earth. But then I thought, hey this S. California we have water challenges here. We have droughts. And what has happened to all the bees, butterflies and birds? And this was before water rationing/limits and rules started due to our droughts.
